Water Costs:

Also See – "Rules and Regulations" web page, for more detailed information on these items

·   Cost of water  - $3.45/per thousand gallons - Base rate depends on size and location, fee adopted on February 12, 2008.

·   New Membership Fee (5/8"x3/4" Meter) - $5,000( Not including Installation, Reimbursement, or Surcharge Fees) ( New membership fee adopted on September  12th, 2006)

·   New Membership Fee (Larger Meters) -  3/4",  1",  1-1/2",  2",  3", and  4"
are more clearly described in the Rules and Regulations,  refer to the Rules &
Regulations  web page for detailed information.

·   Installation - Installation is billed as "time and materials". The average cost is approximately $1,000. If a road bore is required to get water to your property, boring under a county road costs $1,500 (2") and under a highway is $2,500 (2").  Note that the cost of a road bore will differ based on the size of the bore.  All of these costs will vary depending on the individual installation.

·   Reimbursement Fees - When installing a membership onto a main line that was originally paid for by a current member, a reimbursement fee will be charged to the New member. Basically, this allows sharing in the cost of the original line installation or upgrade.

Other Water Information

Water Problems:

·    Member safety - Only MWC trained staff is authorized to make physical adjustments within the meter pit.  A $500 fine may be imposed for  Meter Tampering. Viewing the meter pit is not considered Meter Tampering.

·    Low Water Pressure – During the peak usage season the high water demand may cause lower pressure in your area. There may be a problem within your meter pit that our trained staff can correct. Service lines, on the customer side of the meter, may also be the problem.

·   High Water Pressure – High water pressure can be a very serious problem and you should contact the MWC office immediately. MWC Service Technicians can usually correct the problem by making adjustments within the meter pit.

·   Other High Pressure If high water pressure continues, or is a reoccurring problem, you may be in an area that has unusually high main line pressure. It is a good idea to install a pressure regulator on your service line at some point prior to entering your house. Consult with any plumber for more information on this.

·   Report A Leak – If you see something that appears to be a water leak, notify MWC office immediately. If the report actually turns out to be a main line leak, you will receive a $20.00 credit to your account.

·    After Hours Problems – If you experience problems after regular business hours, you may call MWC "after hours" phone number. This number is 970-882-1400.
            Call immediately:
                    If you have no water.
                    If you have high pressure.
To report a main line leak.
            Call the next business day
For Non-emergency work that can be done during
                    normal business hours.

The Metering Equipment or Meter Pit

·     The meter pit: Water enters your property at the meter pit. The meter within the pit has a digital display that records water usage.

·     Remote Post: A wooden post, located just outside of the meter pit, has a remote pad that records water usage.  The  remote pad is read electronically by MWC Service Technicians once a month, which saves time and reduces the potential of human error.

·    Check valve:  A check valve is in line with the meter and  provides a "one way" flow of water from the MWC system to your property. Back flow and cross connection is a potential health hazard, that MWC diligently avoids.

·    PRV: Each meter pit has a (PRV) pressure reducing valve that allows the pressure to be adjusted. Each metered service has a unique water flow and may require a different pressure adjustment.
