MEETING OF DIRECTORS

Montezuma Water Company Board of Directors- March Meeting will be held TUESDAY, March 11, 2008, 6:30 PM at the Company office, 209 Central, Dolores , Colorado .

All Members are welcome and encouraged to attend.

The 2008 Annual Meeting will be held March 15^th at the Lewis-Arriola Community Center . Registration starts at 11:00 am and the meeting will begin at 12:00. Ballots must be received at the office by 4:30 p.m. on March 7, 2008.

RATE ADJUSTMENT

The cost of water is going up. As expenses have continued to sky rocket the Board of Directors have concluded that a rate increase is necessary.

 Expenses in the past year 4 years have increased 18%. Chemicals have increased 121% and we all know what has happened to the cost of fuel. Montezuma Water Company’s last rate increase was in 2004 when the cost of water increased from $3.00/ 1000 gallons to $3.15 / 1000 gallons. The board has approved a 10% increase in the monthly minimum and the cost of water will increase 30¢ in 2008 ($3.45/ 1000 gallons), 15¢ in 2009 ($3.60/ 1000 gallons), and 15¢ in 2010. The average usage in the system is 5500 gallons. 60.91% of the membership use 5000 gallons or less. A 5000 gallon user’s water bill will increase from $28.25 to $30.75. MWC will be improving the water treatment plant in 2008. The improvements will include new high service pumps (the existing are at capacity) and new backwash pumps. Ultra Violet disinfection and a chloramines feed system will also be added. These additions will allow MWC to meet the new regulations that are to be implemented by the EPA and the state health department. These improvements will be financed with money that has been saved and will be in the neighborhood of $1,000,000.
